On the 21st October my brother, Steffan, and I both went to Bristol to play as part of the National Children’s Orchestra South Westerlies.
We had been rehearsing monthly since January, preparing for the concert. Steffan plays the viola and I play the violin. We had the chance to play pieces such as ‘En bateau’ by Debussy. I have been going to the South Westerlies orchestra since I was in year 4, and sadly this year was my final year. We both enjoyed the opportunity to play in this orchestra with young people from Wales and across the South West of England.
On the 27th October I took part in the Dyfed Young Muscian Competition. The competition is held in the form of a masterclass. I played Brahms’ ‘Scherzo’ from his F-A-E Sonata. The experience was very enjoyable and I learned a lot. I was lucky enough to be selected to go through to the final round of the competition which will be held in April 2019.
